Preparing Your Home For The Installation of a New Toilet

Installing a new toilet in your home may seem like a daunting task but there are multiple steps that you can take to make sure your home is ready for the process. Here are the steps to make sure you are properly prepared:

Safety First

Before you begin any work make sure to turn off any water supply lines. This will help make sure your work is safe and efficient.

Stock Up Early

You will want to make sure you have all the necessary parts you will need for the job. This includes a flange, wax seal, bolts, caulking, and a toilet bowl.

Clear the Scene

Clear any rugs, curtains, furniture and other items that may be in the way. This will help make sure your installation goes smoothly.

Utilities

If you’re not replacing the tank, you will need to make sure you have access to the necessary utilities. Water and electricity need to be available for connections.

Ready to Install

Once you’ve completed the above steps you are ready to begin installation. Here are the steps you will need to complete to install your new toilet:
    • Disconnect the old toilet: Unscrew the water supply line and disconnect the bolts from floor
    • Install the flange: Make sure the flange is secure and level. After the flange is installed, attach the new toilet to the flange ears with the bolts.
    • Connect the water supply: Connect the water supply line to the bottom of the toilet tank and make sure the connection is secure.
    • Caulk the base: You will need to create a tight seal between the toilet and the floor by caulking the base.
    • Connect the waste line: Connect the waste line to the back of the toilet and make sure it is securely in place.
    • Test the toilet: Once everything is installed you will want to make sure your toilet is working properly by flushing it. Once you’re sure everything is working properly, you can replace the toilet seat and enjoy your new toilet.
By taking some simple precautions, you can make sure that your home is ready for the installation of a new toilet. With the right supplies and preparation, you can get the job done quickly and easily.
